Seminar on legal and economic issues regarding childrearing

On March 31, we held a seminar on childrearing-related issues at the Economic Research Building.
Mr. Keizo Iemura and Ms. Kazue Kashiwamoto, labor and social security attorneys at the Iemura Consultant Office, held a lecture lasting for an hour and a half.
In their lecture entitled "About the childcare system and child allowance in Japan", intended mainly for our project researchers, Iemura and Kashiwamoto talked about the background of the establishment of the childcare system in Japan, as well as legals provisions regarding childrearing in the country, after which they went on to explain the current situation regarding childrearing in Japan, while pointing out various problems related to childcare leave and child allowances.
In an hour-long Q&A session that followed their lecture a lively discussion and exchange of opinions ensued, with practical explanations given on topics such as the causes and implications of various institutional changes in childcare in Japan .
