Lecture on population aging and demographic dividends

Our Project Professor Naohiro Ogawa delivered a public lecture on 11 October 2017  at the international conference "Migration, Development and Social Welfare: Implications and New Insights", organized by the Malaya University Social Security Research Centre.

The conference took up issues such as retirement migration, rural-urban migration, international labor migration, demographic changes and social well-being, education, health and social protection.

Prof. Ogawa's lecture entitled "Asia's Population Ageing: The Three Demographic Dividends" spoke of the timing and implications for economic growth and social protection systems of the first, second and the so called "silver dividend" in East and Southeast Asian countries, as well of the opportunities that the latter two may present if proper policies are implemented in a timely manner.
